Byzantine castrum, Brijuni

The remains of a Byzantine castrum, surrounded by high walls with five gates can be seen in one of the bays of the Great Brijun, on the coast of Dobrike cove. On its area of one hectare (two and a half acres) 3700 items and fragments of material culture have been found; some of which represent world archaeological rarities.
