Pula City Palace

City Palace, today the Town hall, contains the whole history of Pula seen through the architecture from the ancient, Romanic, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. During the Venetians’ autonomy it was the residence of the Duke and the Providur, and today it is the seat of the mayor.

Inscription on the facade, restored in the 16th century, dates the building of the Town hall in 1296; this year probably marks the first detailed reconstruction and annexing, because undoubtedly there had been the seat of Town government even before.

The City Palace has been neglected for centuries and partial caving in has occurred several times. Only recently detailed restoration of the edifice has been carried out. On that occasion phases of its creation and annexing were presented.
