Parenzana

Parenzana, the old railway which was supposed to connect Trieste, Poreč and Kanfanar, passes through Grožnjan.

Its building started in 1900 but the route from Poreč to Kanfanar was never finished. Along the route which is 123,1 km long, 9 tunnels were dug and 16 bridges and 6 viaducts were made of stone.

Today the Parenzana way is being revitalised with numerous sport events such as bicycle race Istria MTB Truffles' Tour.
